As a result of an ongoing Operation by Gardai from Baileboro assisted by the Regional Support Unit into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Cavan area, two premises were searched, one in Virginia, Co. Cavan and the other at Ross, Co Meath.


During the first search in Virginia, Gardai discovered approximately €210,000 worth of cannabis plants (subject to analysis). Three men aged 28, 30 and 30 were arrested and detained at Cavan Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. One man was released yesterday evening without charge, the other two men were charged and appeared before a special sitting of Cavan District Ct at 8pm last night.

During the second search in Ross, Gardai discovered approximately €200,000 worth of cannabis plants (subject to analysis). A 24 year old male was arrested and detained at Kells Garda station under the provisions of section of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended and appeared before Ct No. 2, Parkgate st, Dubin 8 yesterday, 19th March 2016.
