The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team and the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter responded to an alarm raised by two women in their 20's on Carrauntoohill around 5.15pm this evening.

The women were on the Devil's Ladder route when one of them sustained a leg injury.

The women have been airlifted to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee.
