Gardaí in Kildare are investigating the alleged assault of a young girl in Co. Kildare last night.

It is understood the incident happend at around 11:45pm in the Skirteen area of Monasterevin.

Gardaí confirm the girl is a juvenile however further details of the incident could not be released for operational reasons.

They are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Monasterevin Garda Station on 045-525322.
