Kilcullen Road (Naas) Cycle Scheme
Pursuant to the requirements of the above, Kildare County Council proposes to upgrade approximately 900m of the R448 Kilcullen Road (Naas) comprising of a shared pedestrian and cycle facility, cycle tracks, cycle lanes and upgraded footpaths from the South Ring Road roundabout to the Main Street junction. The proposed development, which is the subject of this Part 8, will include the following:
South Ring Road roundabout to Naas Garda Station:
a) Upgrade and widening of existing footpaths on both sides of the road to a minimum 3.0m wide shared pedestrian and cycle facility and narrowing of the road carriageway to 6.5m over a 270m section.
Naas Garda Station to the Ballymore Road junction:
b) Upgrade to existing footpaths and provision of 1.75m cycle tracks and cycle lanes on both sides of the road and narrowing of the road carriageway to 6.5m over a 440m section. Reconfiguration of on-street parking. Provision of raised tables at side road junctions incorporating uncontrolled pedestrian crossings and reduction in junction radii.
Ballymore Road junction to the Main Street junction:
c) Upgrade and widening of existing footpaths on both sides of the road to a minimum 3.0m wide and narrowing of the street carriageway to 6.5m incorporating speed management measures to facilitate cycling on street over a 170m section. Reconfiguration of on-street parking. Provision of raised tables at side road junctions incorporating uncontrolled pedestrian crossings and reduction in junction radii. Upgrade to existing controlled and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings.
In accordance with S. I. 476, 2011, Section 250, Planning and Development (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2011, the first stage of the Appropriate Assessment process, screening, has been completed in compliance with the relevant European Commission and national guidelines.
Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during normal opening hours from Tuesday 01 November 2016 until Tuesday 29 November 2016 during public opening hours at the following locations:
Kildare County Council, Roads Transportation and Public Safety Dept, (Level 4), Kildare County Council, at the address below,
Naas Library, Harbour View, Naas, Co. Kildare.
