Gardai have arrested two males following a robbery in Co. Monaghan today.
At approximately 4.45pm an elderly male motorist was stopped by a jeep at Creeve, near Scotch Corner, Monaghan. A male impersonating a member of An Garda Siochana then proceeded to rob the man of his wallet and left the scene in the jeep.
A search was conducted for the jeep by gaidai from Monaghan.
The jeep, now known to be stolen, was later located at Corlust, Castleshane, Co. Monaghan and a male in his 50's arrested. A second male, in his 40's, was arrested afterwards in Creighanroe, Castleblayney.
Both males are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Monaghan Garda Station.
