Following my on-going representations to Bus Eireann for improved services on behalf of the Kilcock Commuter, I am delighted to give the following update which I received from Bus Eireann on Feb. 12th regarding an earlier morning service and extra capacity. This is good news.

I have been working on these issues over the last eight months which have been raised with me by Kilcock Residents while canvassing for the General Election on February 26th. These improvements are in addition to the already improved morning service which I worked to deliver in conjunction with the Kilcock Commuter. I will continue working on the outstanding issues which was raised with me regarding Bus Eireann and Irish Rail.

Capacity & New Double Deck Fleet

Bus Éireann introduced some new state-of-the-art 82 seater Double Deck coaches on the Kilcock / Dublin corridor at the end of January.

These new vehicles feature free wi-fi, power sockets, real-time passenger information, monitors and increased leg room.

As a result of introducing these vehicles, capacity has increased by 20%, which effectively eliminates the issue of full vehicles that we experienced on some evening peak services in 2015.

Earlier morning departure from Kilcock

I can confirm that the National Transport Authority & Bus Éireann are working on providing an earlier morning departure from Kilcock, within existing route resources.

It is hoped that a new early morning service will be operational from May 2016, something which I know many commuters will welcome.
