In the light of such a tight vote and following David Cameron's resignation, the UK may still end up remaining in the EU.

It's a very slim possibility with the following events unflurling:

If there is a call for new leadership of the Labour Party, a pro remain leader may win.

As the impact is felt over the next months the next a new prime minister may feel they don't have a mandate from the UK electorate to revoke article 50 without an election.

This election, which does have to be triggered by something may therefore be fought on a mandate to or not trigg article 50.

Plus this vote has sent shivers down the European spine that hopefully will shake Brussels up for the better.

Still all to play for.
