Maynooth Kilcock Lions Club and Tesco Ireland are calling on shoppers to donate food items during a two-day Christmas Food Appeal on Friday and Saturday November 27th and 28th across Tesco stores in Maynooth, Kilcock, Enfield and Clane.

More than 95,000 meals were donated by shoppers in 2014, and this year the appeal is aiming to provide hampers of non-perishable food to as many families in need as possible in the run-up to Christmas.

A 'shopping list' with suggested food items, which includes everything from tea bags and instant coffee, to breakfast cereals, tinned food and even festive essentials like selection boxes and Christmas cake, will be available as a guide to Tesco customers during the appeal.

Maynooth Kilcock Lions Club https://www.facebook.com/MaynoothKilcockLionsClub have seen the difference these food hampers can make to families, we are determined to collect even more this year so that we can reach as many people as possible in cooperation with the local Chapter of St. Vincent de Paul and give them a little help this Christmas.

Every item really does go a long way, be it teabags or a packet of biscuits, so please pop in and donate what you can.

All food collected in the Lions Club trolley at the entrance to each store will be sorted by volunteers and used to make food hampers for people struggling to provide for themselves and their families.

The 115 Lions Clubs spread throughout the country will then either send food parcels directly to local families in need, or donate them to charitable organisations such as St Vincent de Paul.

Christine Heffernan, Corporate Affairs Director at Tesco Ireland, commented on the appeal, “We're really proud to be able to partner with the Lions Club again on such an important initiative.
