Kildare roads claim the life of a female motorcyclist who died last night when her motorbike collided with the central island on the M9 motorway.

Gardaí in Kildare are investigating the single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the M9 between junction 1 and junction 2 southbound near Kilcullen at approximately 8.30pm on last night Saturday 9th July.

The woman, who is in her 40's, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other person was injured in the collision.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination following the accident last night, and it remains closed this morning.
