After over 50 years under the ownership of the Hannigan family The Rye Vale Tavern served its last pint last night.

It's sad to see a part of our local heritage close its doors. For many of us it's where we met new friends and partners. It's where we were entertained in Rockafellas, The Ozone and Zinc.

Saturday night saw a reunion of customers pay their last respects and locals popped in to the Loft for a final lunch on Sunday.

The Hannigan family have always been great supporters of the local community. The family always made the venue available to local community groups.

Until Intel graced our doorsteps they were the biggest employer in Leixlip when the meat factory closed down. They have ensured all their staff are looked after with many of them joining their other venues The Springfield Hotel and the Middle Shop.

We all have a Rye Vale story or two to tell but as those stories come to an end and turn into fond memories we wish the Hannigan family the very best in their other venues in Leixlip and are happy they are still commercially at the heart of our community.
