Arrest in relation to the Murder of Philip Finnegan on the 16/11/16


At approximately 1pm yesterday the 16th November 2016 a man in his thirties was arrested in Portlaoise in connection with the murder of Phillip Finnegan in August 2016 at Rahin Wood Co Kildare.


He was detained at Leixlip Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Gardaí in Leixlip have been investigating the murder of Philip Finnegan, whose body was discovered in Rahin Wood on the 2nd September this year.

Philip had been reported missing from his home at Mary Aikenhead House, Dublin 8 since Wednesday the 10thof August 2016.

A post-mortem examination was conducted by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr. Bolster at Naas General Hospital to identify and ascertain the nature of Mr Finnigan's death.
