I don't want to start slinging mud here...those opposed to Irish Water would do worse than have a read of this brief article. A centrally funded utility is doomed to fail. Consistent investment is needed for many years and this means that it needs a predictable revenue stream. If we abandon this now we will pay dearly in the years to come in health as well as money terms. We can't trust local politicians with this.

People in uk are paying this and some more every year for their water rates...it started off in uk less than £100 a year and is now £1000s a year...i would rather it cost a couple of €1000 now to abolish this in Ireland!!...sorry I don't usually comment or debate these things but coming from the uk...I have been there done that....and here it is coming to Ireland!...don't just read the headline!!!...to say if it is abolished that we will have to pay for the upkeep repair etc of network(that's what we have been doing) ...before the water rates the network funding as you said is paid by us already on one form or another...that's exactly why people don't want to pay extra as we have already been paying for the upkeep of it in our general taxes.....it's an extra tax...and we don't want it...look at your survey...this is scaremongering....democracy????
