New speed limits and signage for Enfield roads and housing estates are to be introduced in August.

On Enfield's rural roads some 80km/h signs will be replaced with new ones indicating drivers must drive at appropriate speeds.

In {town}} housing estates and other built up areas around Enfield provision is being made for slow zones. Currently the legal speed limit in Enfield housing estates is 50kmh.

New signs will indicate to drivers that the limit is 30km/h and will warn of vulnerable people in the area like children at play.

Submissions are requested regarding establishing a maximum speed of 30 kilometres per hour at which vehicles are legally permitted to travel on specified public roads.

In accordance with the powers conferred by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act 2004 (No.44 of 2004), Meath County Council proposes, in the interest of road safety and prudent traffic management, to make the above Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws establishing a maximum speed of 30 kilometres per hour at which vehicles are legally permitted to travel on specified public roads.
